I was very interested to see how my classmates were doing. I specially liked Joshua Goldman’s website and daily bloggs, they were very funny. I was happy to see that people used their imagination or past experiences with creating their websites.
I can’t say I did not use other internet sites in developing my site but I did not refer to one at the time I was making it. The journal and reading was very useful. I came to realize that posting your readings on some type of journal medium does not only tell the professor you read the material but helps you remember it too. The most useful thing I learned was how to create a website that is most useful in our days. In terms of material it was being able to link other websites on to your webpage. That is a phenomenal tool. Since the class website was updated so often I was amazed how a professor who is teaching over a 100 students can keep up with the weekly additions to the class website and also check our bloggs. The website worked to my advantage, during the semester I did not have to read all those propaganda websites on the net to get my news but logged on to class website for the important news. As I mentioned before I not only learned from weekly bloggs but it helped me remember the material even better.
I was so worried about my website; no matter what I did I was not happy. It took me many hours perhaps over five hours hands on the computer. Outside the computer lab I put a lot of thought in too what I want to do and how I am going to structure it. Linking sites to my webpage was the most useful tool because I did not have to travel to the library or even go back to Russia to scan Russian banknotes. That of course would require much more time and a lot more expenses. The most difficulty I had was with arranging the material on the website. I could not align the material the way I wanted. It was very frustrating and tedious because I had to go back and forth many times each time I wanted to center some text. I had some problems with FrontPage because I could not control it but coming early Friday resolved most of my problems. I do not think I would use the same design but if I was to build a website in the future I will create my own colors and would prefer working with HTML coding over FrontPage. For a beginner I think I did OK but certainly gained enough experience to build a much better webpage next time. When I used HTML tags I was in control but with FrontPage I did not have that feeling because I was going with what the wizard gave me.
An online journal is amazing if people give you feedback. Actually it all depends on the journal holder. When I found out about blogger I read some of the journals people posted and few were so good that even I could not pass it by without sending some feedback to the writer. Some bloggers just amazed me with their guineas thoughts and opinions. I kept up with classmate’s bloges weekly and was very disappointed to see that some people did not update them every week. I will be honest, because my classmates didn’t post their work weekly I lost interest in updating my blogger. I was not happy with myself, so every time I meet someone from class I would tell them that I read their bloggs and I enjoyed it, hopping they will be encouraged to write more. I liked the course work for HTML and learned many exciting things. Unfortunately I can not say the same about FrontPage. Maybe I do not yet know all the features of FrontPage but I was not happy with it. Yes, it is true; it was easy to use and very user friendly. I can’t explain, maybe I was expecting more than I got from FrontPage. The course was very organized and clear, we where moving in a step by step rout. If only class attendance was better I would of learned much more, but that is a common problem in YU. The class website was the most useful because I got encouraged by it. I was so happy, extremely happy to see the professor working so hard for us and that I will never forget that. I remember in Azerbaijan when professors would go the extra mile so the students would learn and grow from their teaching. I did not see that in America. Therefore I am glad that I took this class just before I am finishing with my life in school. Thank you for all the strength and knowledge you gave me.

Page design is a very interesting chapter. I it is also very useful know the dimensions of a web page which was provided in the chapter.
Graphic "safe area" dimensions for layouts designed to print well:
Maximum width = 560 pixels
Maximum height = 410 pixels (visible without scrolling)
Graphic "safe area" dimensions for layouts designed for 800 x 600 screens:
Maximum width = 760 pixels
Maximum height = 410
I will refer to this chapter when I will be working on my business web page. I mean after reading chapter 2 all I can say is that things can get really complicated on the Internet. there is a whole world out there. I mean it is constricted in relation to how countries, cities, and forests are build. Everything that there is in the word the web can relate to, even more creatively. For example, for a guy to come back to a girl, she got to be attractive. So do websites, they must be attractive and serving the purpose that it has been designated for to atracte people. Imagen how far we can go in a few more years. Is there really going to be a virtual life or world in a few years? Are we going to forget Saddam Hussain’s threat because we have a bigger problem in the virtual world? People getting lost infront of their computeri by muss numbers?

HTML: Chapter 1

Websites are very useful tool for our fast moving world. The web can be used in many different ways, from networking to shopping to entertainment. The good news is, what one is looking for could be found through locating a Uniform Resource Locator it is the address of a document or other file accessible on the internet. What is interesting that you can use hyperlink to link web pages together. I been using the word link not realizing it is short for hyperlink, I always thought hyperlink is some sophisticated thing.
HTML, language used to create documents on the WWW. So far we have done so much in class that as I read through the first two chapters I see a few new things. I learned about <-P> to indicate a new paragraph, <-HR> to display a horizontal rule across the page. slowly I am enriching my knowledge of HTML language. I have made flash cards to easily remember HTML tags or markups. Since first day of class I wanted to ask who created HTML, unfortunately I only remember about the question when I live the classroom. But now I know. Tim Berners-Lee and Rober Calliau is the pioneer, they deserve a lot of credit. A applaud to them here, now, and write this in there merit. So far thanx to this pioneer I find HTML easy and comfortable to use. Thank G-d it is no C++ type of a language. It is amusing, HTML does not read spaces, it is there for us, so we can be organized and see clearly where we are. I found it much easier to work in upper case letters in HTML since it is case-insensitive. I find it extremely convenient that HTML could be Saved as Web Page in Microsoft Word. I learned about different types of layouts web sites could have.

Principles of website management.

Planning your website is very beneficial because you are not turning to your computer with empty hands. From reading Web Style Guide by Patrick J. Lynch and Sarah Horton I learned many aspects of planning and managing a website. I learned that people are the key to successful Web projects. So, in order to attracted people one needs to develop website management techniques and artistic views on its looks. While reading the book I was trying to plan my website. Although, I do not have a topic yet but I thought of a few plans. For example, since this is a personal website perhaps I should do something to express my personal unique (I have a lot) characteristics, ideas, and views. I would love to get feedback from people if I would build a self expression website. I would also like to do something about my background or about my community in Azerbaijan. Another idea I had was to put on my website the most important and useful websites I ever come across and describe the a little and explain how they were useful to me. Another idea is post my senor research on my website as I develop it and give feedback of my experiences writing it. I am a hard worker so I want my website to be useful, how do I know how my audience would be. Ok, I know some of my classmates will take a pick if the get a chance, but how do I market to other people. I also thought of designs, I think the best way for me is to look at other web pages and get professional ideas. At list for my first web designing also because when I look in other websites I will see what they did wrong and I can modify it as I see. Some of the crucial questions to answer before planning a website:
•	What is your mission?
•	How will creating a Web site support your mission?
•	What are your two or three most important goals for the site?
•	Who is the primary audience for the Web site?
•	What do you want the audience to think or do after having visited your site?
•	What Web-related strategies will you use to achieve those goals?
•	How will you measure the success of your site?
•	How will you adequately maintain the finished site?
I went through the site development part but it mostly concerns someone who is considering web design as a profession, but it was interesting and I learned a few techniques.

My Favorite online newspapers are:

The NEW York Times

The Jerusalem Post

This is where my friends hang out:

Angel Fire Web Builder

     Israel Needs a Shield!

I know little about Israeli politics, but I know Mr. Sharon got what it takes to stand strong for Israel. I fell in love with Mr. Sharon when he said I must get permission to go to the Assemble of the Muslim World in Cairo this summer (2002.) I love Mr. Sharon because he is a genuine Jew. Meaning, he does not have to be religious to be a Jew. We all know that, right! A Jew at heart is worth a million fake people (I do not want to say fake religious Jews.) That’s exactly what Sharon is, a Jew at heart. Also, if Jewish people are one guff (one body,) so why are there so many different parties in a Jewish state? Shouldn’t we all be one like Mr. Sharon proposed? The religious parties should know better than that! We have to keep ourselves away from the Palestinians; we can’t be too friendly, that is the only way to prevent us from assimilating. I do not suggest hostility in any way, all I want to see is a separation between Palestinians and Jews, but obviously in a peaceful way. What is that peaceful way? It is Sharon’s plan. Make peace with Palestinians, by showing them as long as they do not violate the laws of state of Israel they will live in harmony. When you violate the law and blow yourselves up to kill innocent Israelis, the Israelis will kill you even more. I am sorry, but that is the only choice we have. The Jews tried everything in the past fifty years. They tried to give them land (our land) for peace, give them jobs, (our jobs) give them education (from our resources) give them access to the Western world, welfare…etc. all for the sake of peace. We can not sacrifice anymore! We had it! This is our land for as long as history exists, and we are nice enough to let them live here. Oh, I wish things were all up to our “bulldozer” (Sharon.) He would show the Palestinians what it means to live in the real world, not the world of forgiving, peaceful Jews. I am glad, Mr. Sharon was appointed as the prime minister. I hope he succeeds in what he is doing and brings the Jewish people and the government together under one roof, so we do not have political hate between Jews. Because “hating,” is a sin of highest degree.

                                    Discovering the “underworld” of blogers

This is great, I missed a day of college class but I still did not loose on the information that was taught. I used the class blog. When I started reading its contents and followed the instructions I discovered that there is a whole underworld of blogers. I read through many blogs and I was fascinated, struck with awe and excitement. I really was. Because you have people writing what is on their minds with ought worrying that they could be incorrect, politically wrong, discriminating (legitimate), rebelling against some administrative authority ...etc. you know why I felt this way? Because some of what I read I grinded in my head and got depressed over but never dared to speak up. For example, a blog that I spend a long time reading is really full of artistic creativity and by someone who has a brilliant mind wrote this,
i always want to make a bumper sticker that says "Divided we FALL"
(instead of "united we stand")
because America is so socially divided
and it gets worse every day and no one notices, no one cares
and the government makes more and more laws
and take away more and more of our freedoms
and no one notices.
(I took this out of a whole paragraph, but still conveys her mind.) See what I mean? I thought of something like this for a split second in my head, but then just keep it there.
I learned a little bloging management from reading the articles. For example, update it regularly, sprinkles with links, and be creative. I also realized that I do not have to be a computer wizard to have a web page. I learned about Pitas.com, Peterme.com, Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan created blogger. Mr. Reynolds, Einstein of blogers pen his days having fun putting his ideas on blogs. I like that. But lets not kill ourselves with blogs because if we all start posting blogs even from our cell phones, what is the fun in that, there won’t be anyone to read them.
